SS- 1c Scub B Launcher
Posted by: admin in Military Vehicles Of Russia, tags: military vehicles, SS- 1c Scub B LauncherThe Scub B is a medium-range tactical missile with nuclear or conventional high-explosive warheads. Introduced in 1961, it has a poor operational record.
Its gyroscopic guidance system is only active for the first 80 seconds of flight to the target speeds of up to Mach 9.
The Scud is consequently extremely inaccurate, as was demonstrate by Iraqi scud attacks against Israeli cities during the Gulf War.
A single Scud is carried on a modified MAZ-543 truck acting as a transporter erector launcher, in section military vehicles
Initially a JS-3 tracked chassis was used, but the MAZ-543 was introduced from 1965 to give improved off-road mobility.
