DR-3 Reys Military Vehicles
Posted by: admin in Military Vehicles Of Russia, tags: aircraft, Dr-3 military vehicles, rocketsThe Dr-3 unmanned aerial reconnaissance vehicle (UAV) was developed by the Tupolev aircraft company in the early 1970s.
It is launched from the back of an 8×8 BAZ-135 TZM transloader vehicle. The UAV is contained is contained in a cylindrical container mounted on the back of the lorry.
This is raised to an angel of around 35 degrees for launching, a booster jet ejecting the UAV from the container for 550m (1800ft) before the DR-3’s main jeg ignites.
The DR-3 flies for 150km (90miles) at which point the main engine cuts out and the aircraft descends to earth by parachute.
Intelligence is gathered by a PA-1 wet-film camera or a Chibis-B television camera mounted in the nose the aircraft.
