The Type 54-1 one types of military vehicles consists of a 122mm(4.8in) howitzer mounted on the chassis of the YW 531 armoured personnel carrier, thought the Type 54-1 differs in that it has fifth road wheel on each side.

Armoured protection is provided by the shield from the howitzer’s towed version.

The gun itself is actually a copy of the Soviet M-30 122mm(4.8in) howitzer, an ageing weapon now obsolete amongst modern field artillery.

With a maximum gun range of 11.8km(7.33 miles), the Type 54-1 is outclassed by most NATO and Russian artillery. Nonetheless, the simplicity of the Type 54-1 military vehicles makes it a dependable weapon, thought one now being replaced by the Type 85 self-propelled gun
