Military Vehicles

The Slovakian PRAM-S military vehicles, also known as the Vzor 85, is a 120mm (4.7in) self-propelled mortar.

It is heavily influenced by Russian weapons carriers, and its chassis is that of the Soviet BMP-2 armoured personnel carrier lengthened to incorporate seven roads wheels.  The 120mm (4.7in) Model 1982 mortar is a potent weapon designed for sustained fire support.

It can fire out to a range of 8000m (26,250ft) with a rate of fire of 18 to 20 rounds per minute via an automatic feeders.

In addition, a 12.7mm (0.5in) NSV machine gun is mounted on the hull rear, while internally, The PRAM-S carries RPG-75 anti-tank rocket launchers an a 9K113 Konkurz ATGW.

The SM-240 self-propelled mortar is one types of military vehicles, a weapon unique to the former Soviet Union.

Using the chassis of an SA-4 SAM launcher, Russian designer in the mid-1970s create a moving platform for a massive 2B8 240mm (9.45in) mortar, the vehicle requiring nine crew in total.

The mortar is carried on the rear of the hull when in transit, but hydraulically lowered to the ground for the firing (though the mortar remains connected to the vehicle).

Two 20-round magazines feed the mortar through automatic breech-loading. Ammunition types include HE, fragmentation, smoke and even nuclear warheads. The 2B8 can fire a 131kg(289lb) shell just under 10km (6.2miles).
